Vantan and GANYMEDE, the operators of ZETA DIVISION Gaming Academy, announced on Sept. 17 that they had reached a basic business agreement with T1 Esports Academy, which is operated by T1, on esports talent development. The KADOKAWA Group announcement was made on the ZETA DIVISION stage at Tokyo Game Show 2026. The arrangement is confirmed, but its fees, term and exclusivity were not disclosed.[1][2]
Why It Matters
This is not a short-term deal around an active roster. It is a cross-market transfer of development infrastructure: T1 Academy’s methods are planned for localization in Japan, and the first deliverable is a proposed T1 intensive course for ZETA Academy students. The first test of the partnership is therefore course delivery rather than brand exposure.[1]
ZETA Academy is also designed to extend beyond player training. Vantan’s earlier announcement describes player and creator tracks alongside practical skills for event planning, content production and team management. If delivered as described, the project puts club knowledge, school operations and cross-border coaching methods into one talent-development platform.[3]

The public record from March had already established that ZETA Academy was planned to open in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya in April 2027. The Sept. 17 change is the addition of T1 Esports Academy as a Korean education partner and the plan to bring T1’s development methods into the Japanese curriculum. The school has not opened, and the intensive course’s timing, faculty, fees and duration remain undisclosed.[2][3]
The most accurate database label is therefore education and talent-development partnership, not a competitive roster move, equity transaction or confirmed long-term sponsorship between T1 and ZETA. The parties announced a basic agreement, leaving the scope of any definitive or expanded arrangement open.[1][2]
What to Watch
- A formal date, module list and teaching roster for the T1 intensive course; these would show whether the localization has moved into delivery.
- Whether the three ZETA Academy campuses open and enroll students in April 2027 as planned, and whether the first courses actually run.
- Any disclosure of longer-term course, faculty, student-pathway or market-expansion arrangements between the two academies; the current sources do not state those terms.
