Riot Games is a Los Angeles-based game company founded in 2006 by Brandon Beck and Marc Merrill. The company built its reputation through League of Legends, then expanded into additional games, media projects, and large-scale esports operations.

The company is one of the most influential publishers in modern competitive gaming because it operates both the games and the surrounding tournament ecosystems. Riot runs League of Legends esports leagues around the world and also organizes the Valorant Champions Tour.

Riot’s portfolio has expanded beyond its original flagship title to include Valorant, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, Wild Rift, and entertainment projects such as Arcane. Its structure gives it unusual control over how its intellectual property, live service operations, and esports broadcasts evolve together.
