Disney+ will exclusively stream South Korea’s national esports team send-off ceremony on Aug. 25, adding another programme to the country’s build-up to the 2026 Asian Games.
KeSPA announced on Aug. 13 that the delegation will hold its official ceremony at Seoul’s Sangam Cube Convention Center. Forty-one athletes and coaches from nine medal disciplines are expected to attend. Disney+ will carry the ceremony exclusively and will also stream the national team’s League of Legends evaluation match scheduled for September.
The announcement follows the 2026 LoL KeSPA CUP in a sequence of Disney+ programming around the national team. KeSPA said the platform would carry the domestic tournament, the send-off and the September evaluation match in succession.
Why It Matters
The sequence turns a single national-team rights deal into a staged audience test. The send-off introduces the delegation, the September evaluation match supplies a competitive checkpoint, and the Asian Games will show whether viewers follow the team into the medal event.
It also tests whether a mainstream subscription service can carry national-team esports beyond an existing esports audience. That is a distribution question, not proof that Disney+ has established a durable esports rights strategy.
KeSPA’s support from Google Play, Hanwha Life, POSCO, Sidiz, Logitech G, Jeju Samdasoo, Busan and other partners gives the programme a commercial base. The sources establish the partner and distribution commitments, but not their audience or revenue outcome.
What Changed
The new element is Disney+‘s exclusive role around the Aug. 25 send-off and September League of Legends evaluation match. KeSPA’s announcement also places those broadcasts after the 2026 LoL KeSPA CUP, creating a connected national-team schedule rather than a single isolated stream.
What to Watch
- Disney+‘s confirmed broadcast pages and final schedule for the send-off and evaluation match.
- Viewership, completion and repeat-viewing data across the send-off, evaluation match and Asian Games coverage, if disclosed.
- Any extension of the KeSPA–Disney+ arrangement to additional national-team or association programming.
