Seoul’s Game e-Sports Seoul 2026 (GES 2026) will bring 70 game and esports companies to Dongdaemun Design Plaza from September 18 to 20. The event is targeting 200,000 online and offline visitors, according to a September 7 report by Sports Kyunghyang. That figure is an organizer target, not completed attendance.

Why it matters

The programme makes GES more than a game exhibition. It combines publishers and esports clubs with automotive activation, sim racing, AI game development and professional competition. The city is also linking GES with Entertech Seoul and the SPP international content market, creating a wider structure that connects public experiences with business meetings, investment discussions and potential overseas distribution.

What changed

Hyundai Motor will run a large sim-racing experience zone and host the Hyundai N x Racing Master Cup final, a mobile racing event involving representatives from major Asian regions. The Hyundai N Virtual Cup will use Gran Turismo 7 for its opening round at DDP Art Hall 2. The sources confirm these 2026 activities, but do not establish a multi-year Hyundai deal, automotive exclusivity or financial terms.

KRAFTON’s PUBG Weekly Series Phase 2 professional-club competition will be held in the DDP Conference Hall. Official PUBG Esports information also lists matches and fan-signing sessions with Gen.G Esports and DN SOOPers on September 19 and 20. Other announced programming includes the Seoul PlayUp AI Game Challenge presentation and awards ceremony.

What to watch

The useful follow-up is whether GES can show outcomes beyond event reach: repeat participation, sustained Racing Master or Gran Turismo programming, publisher or investor deals for Seoul studios, and overseas distribution connected to SPP. Those results would determine whether GES is becoming repeatable city gaming infrastructure rather than a one-off festival.
