The PUBG: Battlegrounds esports programme will move to four regional-to-global phases in 2027, with every team required to earn its place at each PUBG Global Series (PGS), according to a Chinese-language announcement published by the verified PCL赛事 account on behalf of the PUBG Esports team. The change removes guaranteed PGS places for Global Partner Teams (GPTs), including teams already in that programme. The announcement says the GPT relationship will instead focus on in-game collaboration items and marketing activations; details of the revised partnership model will follow in a later announcement.
The regional structure will expand and be subdivided. EMEA will become Europe, Eurasia and the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), while the Americas will become North America and South America. India will join as a new competitive region. Each of the four phases will pair a regional league with its corresponding PGS: regional league Phase 1 feeds into PGS Phase 1, and the same pattern repeats through Phase 4. Qualification is phase-specific: earning a PGS place in one phase does not guarantee entry in the next. The announcement does not yet provide the regional league formats or the number of PGS places available to each region.
The new PUBG Esports Points system will replace the separate PGS and PGC points arrangements. Points will be awarded only for PGS performance, accumulated across the year and used toward qualification for PGC. The announcement says further details on points allocation and the PGC qualification system will come later. The PUBG Nations Cup is scheduled for early July, between Phases 2 and 3.
The provisional 2027 calendar places Phase 1 from late March to early May, Phase 2 from mid-May to mid-June, the PUBG Nations Cup in early July, Phase 3 from early August to mid-September, and Phase 4 from late September to early November. The PUBG Global Championship 2027 is scheduled for late November to early December. The source says these windows may change. It also says a new PUBG Esports visual identity is in preparation; detailed regional schedules, formats, points allocation and other event information are still to come.
