Esports was Polymarket Global’s largest trading category in August, with about US$1.32 billion in volume, according to analyst Ollie Ring’s review for Lootboxes and Leftovers. Ring’s public summary said the category topped football as the Premier League season returned. The summary describes the figures as a surface-level look at the global exchange and does not include a market list or counting method that would let readers reproduce the US$1.32 billion total.
Ring attributed roughly US$600 million to League of Legends and said markets tied to Dota 2’s The International accounted for eight of the ten most-traded esports markets. The figures are estimates of trading activity, not revenue reported by game publishers, teams or tournament organizers.
A separate review by Vultax Research offers a narrower comparison. It counted US$155.8 million in esports trading out of US$727 million observed across 251 hourly intervals between August 21 and September 12, or 21.4% of its sample. Vultax says it observed 251 of 533 hours and grouped markets by address prefix, so its sample indicates substantial activity but does not verify Ring’s full-month estimate. Polymarket says its international website and U.S. app are separate products; the Global figure should not be combined with U.S. platform totals without a matching scope and method.
