FiReSPORTS CEO Rodrigo Figueroa Reyes says Valve selected the organizer for the FiRe Major Buenos Aires 2027 after following its events for several years. The Counter-Strike 2 Major is scheduled for May 31–June 20, 2027, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, according to the official event listing.[1][2]

In an interview with Dust2 Brasil, Figueroa said Valve first raised the possibility of a Major with FiRe in 2022 after seeing one of its events at Camp Nou. He said Valve asked the company to demonstrate it could stage a stadium event and invited it to participate in the 2025 and 2026 Major cycles. FiRe submitted a 125-page proposal; Figueroa said Valve then asked for a shorter 25-page version because the organizer had already explained its history.[1]

Figueroa said Valve confirmed the selection on June 9, 2025, during the Austin Major. He said FiRe chose to present an unconventional event format rather than repeat a stadium production, and that Valve cited its different approach and interest in backing more tournament operators.[1]

For 2027, FiRe plans to hold the opening stages at Usina del Arte, while the official listing assigns the playoffs to Movistar Arena Buenos Aires. Figueroa said the company was still deciding how to use Usina del Arte’s two auditoriums so fans could attend every stage. He also said the city was providing the venue and logistical support, and that FiRe expected 20 local staff and 27 European broadcast specialists. Figueroa reported that 60% of the stadium’s four-day ticket allocation had sold and projected 15,000 attendees including guests.[1][2]
