PGL has set its fifth Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 event of 2027 for Sept. 2–12 in the Schengen area, a region within Europe. The 16-team LAN, PGL CS2 #5, does not yet have a named city or venue. The dates in PGL’s Oct. 31 announcement supersede the earlier calendar window for the September event.[1]

Fourteen teams will receive direct invitations from the Global Valve Regional Standings (VRS) published May 3, 2027. The remaining two places go to the winners of an eight-team European closed qualifier, which will run online from May 24–27. Those eight qualifier teams will also be invited by VRS ranking, using the Europe standings and beginning with the highest-ranked teams not already invited to the main event. The qualifier is double elimination, with every match best-of-three. PGL’s announcement does not specify the main event bracket.[1][2]

The event’s USD 1 million in winnings is split into USD 500,000 for player prize money and USD 500,000 in Club Share. A separate USD 300,000 VRS Invite Bonus will pay USD 60,000 each to five of the highest-ranked eligible teams that accept an invitation. If a team declines, the bonus moves down the ranking under PGL’s eligibility rules. The resulting USD 1.3 million in event rewards excludes the circuit’s separate USD 2.8 million Annual Viewership Incentive for 2027.[1][3]

Invitations are due to use the May 3 VRS, while seeding will be based on the Aug. 2 list. PGL’s conditions also require teams to have at least three players from their reference roster holding valid visas by the stated deadline. A team that misses the requirement loses its place, which PGL classifies as a withdrawal; Pley.gg reports that a withdrawal also makes a roster ineligible for a direct invitation to the next PGL event that issues invites.[1][2]
