DAIGON Esports, which runs esports programs and competitions for international schools, named BLAST, an esports event producer, as a premier brand partner and official sponsor of the main prize at the School Esports World Championships. The finals are scheduled for Nov. 19–22 at PLAYCON in Malta.
DAIGON co-founder and chief revenue officer David Higginson said the company aims to “reframe screen time into purposeful learning.” Its championship is the final stage of a school competition route: six partner associations run cups that send top performers to Malta. DAIGON says the member-school network spans more than 60 countries, a measure of the route’s reach rather than the 2026 finalist field.
James Woollard, BLAST’s vice president of destinations and market development, called Malta “an incredibly important part of BLAST’s global esports operations.” He said BLAST is committed to supporting local esports, from grassroots initiatives to world-class events.
Bernews, quoting a spokesperson for a participating school, reported that the 2025 championship at PLAYCON brought together more than 150 students over three days.
