PTG Database Analysis

Riot Games’ All-Star Event was an international competition for League of Legends players selected by fans. The inaugural 2013 Shanghai edition brought together five regional teams, and its tournament winner earned an additional place for its region at the Season 3 World Championship.[1] The 2014 Paris edition paired a five-team regional invitational with a fan-voted All-Star Challenge; SK Telecom T1 K won the Invitational.[6][7] The 2015 Los Angeles edition split six regional All-Star teams across Team Fire and Team Ice, with Team Fire winning the cumulative points contest.[8][9] The 2016 Barcelona edition again grouped six regional teams into Fire and Ice; Team Ice led the overall points standings, 1,100 to 850.[10][11] The 2017 Los Angeles edition returned to a competitive format: LPL defeated LMS 3–2 in the 5v5 final, while Uzi won the separate 1v1 tournament.[12][13][14] The 2018 Las Vegas edition combined regional show matches, charity 2v2s and alternate modes with a 1v1 bracket won by Caps.[16][17][19] The 2019 Las Vegas edition added a Teamfight Tactics competition; Bwipo won its separate League of Legends 1v1 bracket.[20][21] Later editions changed the balance between regional competition and exhibition play; Riot described 2016 as a light-hearted event and 2017 as a more competitive format.[3] The 2020 edition moved online and used regional matchups and a separate all-star stage.[4]

Riot announced that it would not hold the event in 2021. The series records its history separately from other League of Legends international competitions; individual editions retain their own participants, results, partners and host details.[5]
