PTG Database Analysis
The Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games Esports programme took place in Hangzhou, China, from September 24 to October 2, 2023. The Games kept their 2022 branding after the Olympic Council of Asia postponed the event by one year. This was esports’ first official Asian Games medal programme, following the 2018 demonstration in Jakarta.[1][3]
OCA’s final report lists EA Sports FC Online, Arena of Valor Asian Games Version, League of Legends, Street Fighter V: Champion Edition, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, Peace Elite Asian Games Version and Dota 2. It counted 473 athletes from 30 national Olympic committees across 219 matches, with four golds for China, two for the Republic of Korea and one for Thailand. The earlier 476-athlete figure was a pre-event count; the retrospective figure is used here.[1][2]
