The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is the continental sports organization recognized by the Olympic movement to coordinate the Asian Games and related continental sports programmes. Its official council profile describes it as an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization representing Asia’s national Olympic committees.
For esports, the OCA approves the titles and competition framework used in the Asian Games. It announced 11 esports titles for the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games, giving the esports programme a formal medal-sport role within the broader multi-sport event.
In November 2024, the OCA Executive Board unanimously approved a committee proposal to remove esports from the Asian Games Programme after Aichi-Nagoya and hold separate Asian Esports and Mind Games. On Sept. 28, 2026, the OCA said it had made or published no decision for esports to leave the Asian Games, and that the separate 2027 event would not weaken esports’ place in the Games system. Its statement did not explain how it relates to the 2024 meeting record. The OCA had signed a Host City Contract with Kuwait for the inaugural Asian Esports and Mind Sports Games in 2027; the programme for the new event has not yet been announced.
