PTG Database Analysis

PGL has scheduled PGL CS2 #5, its fifth Tier 1 Counter-Strike 2 event of 2027, as a 16-team LAN in the Schengen area from September 2 to 12. PGL has not named a city or venue. The organizer’s October 31 announcement supersedes earlier calendar and third-party listing dates.[2]

Fourteen teams will receive direct invitations based on the Global Valve Regional Standings published May 3, 2027. The other two main-event places go to the winners of an eight-team European closed qualifier, played online from May 24 to 27. Those qualifier invitations will also use the May 3 VRS, drawing from the Europe ranking. The closed qualifier is double elimination, with all matches best-of-three; the event’s main-stage format has not been specified in the announcement.[2][4]

PGL lists USD 1 million in winnings, divided equally between player prize money and Club Share, plus a separate USD 300,000 VRS Invite Bonus. Five of the highest-ranked eligible teams that accept their invitations receive USD 60,000 each; if a team declines, the bonus moves down the ranking under PGL’s rules. The tournament also contributes toward PGL’s separate annual viewership incentive, which covers the 2027 circuit rather than forming part of this event’s USD 1.3 million rewards.[2][4]

PGL says invitations will be based on the May 3 ranking and seeding on the August 2 VRS. Its rules also make a visa failure consequential: a team unable to field at least three players from its reference roster with valid visas by the deadline loses its place, and PGL classifies the outcome as a withdrawal. Pley.gg reports that a withdrawal also disqualifies the roster from a direct invitation to the next PGL event issuing invites.[2][4]
