Huya’s game livestreaming service launched within JOYY in November 2014. JOYY’s filings say the business operated under the standalone Huya brand from 2015; HUYA Inc.’s filings describe the later transfer of operating assets and formation of its corporate structure. JOYY sold its remaining HUYA Inc. shares to Tencent in 2023, ending its equity stake. The 2018 Feature’s shorthand that Huya became independent in 2014 compresses those separate milestones.[1][2][5]
In 2023, a report citing corporate-registration data said a Huya-affiliated company entered ImbaTV’s shareholder register. The available report does not establish the stake or current ownership.[3]
Huya Live is jointly organizing the 2026 Demacia Cup Global Invitational with TJ Sports.[4]
The business has since broadened beyond livestreaming. In 2025, HUYA Inc. reported RMB 6.502 billion in total net revenue, including RMB 1.908 billion from game-related services, advertising and other activities; live-streaming revenue was RMB 4.594 billion. The company describes a wider game-services strategy that includes game distribution and in-game item sales.[5] In January 2026, Huya and Kingsoft Shiyou co-published Goose Goose Duck mobile in the Chinese mainland, marking a concrete step into game publishing.[8]
