Arena of Valor International Championship 2018

Overview

The second Arena of Valor International Championship ran from November 23 to December 16, 2018. Garena’s official Chinese-language group announcement lists 16 teams from 11 regions and separates the Vietnam play-ins from the Thailand group stage. The play-ins were held at GEM Center, the Bangkok group stage and quarterfinals at Garena Esports Studio, and the semifinals and final at BITEC Bangna Hall 100.[1][3][7][8][11]

J Team recovered from a 0–3 loss to Team Flash in the upper-bracket semifinal, beat ahq in the lower-bracket match and then swept Team Flash 4–0 in the final. Garena reported USD 250,000 for the champion and approximately 5,000 spectators at the Bangkok final. The season-wide prize pool was approximately USD 600,000; the sources reviewed do not identify additional event-wide commercial partners beyond the co-organizers.[2][4][6]

China’s representative, Oh My God, won the mainland qualifier before advancing to the international tournament. Huya’s Chinese-language AIC report says Huya Live would livestream the first-stage play-ins on November 23–25, with commentary from streamer Laosi. The source does not establish coverage of later stages or disclose exclusive rights.[10]
