Garena will stop organizing the Free Fire World Series (FFWS Southeast Asia) competition as a combined regional league from 2027. Its new route gives teams in Southeast Asia seven direct places at each Global Finals through national competitions in Indonesia (FFWS Indonesia), Thailand (FFWS Thailand), Vietnam (FFWS Vietnam) and Malaysia (FFWS Malaysia), while a 12-team regional qualifier will decide the eighth. Garena announced the change on Oct. 12.[1]

The top two teams from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam will qualify directly, as will the Malaysian champion. The 12-team qualifier will include teams placing third to fifth in Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, and second to fourth in Malaysia. Garena says the four national competitions will share USD 1.4 million in prize money over two 2027 seasons, or USD 700,000 per season. It says schedules and competition formats will be announced later.[1]

The shift reverses the regional structure Garena introduced for 2024, when its roadmap described FFWS SEA as a new league bringing leading teams from the four countries into one competition.[2] Garena’s 2026 roadmap still called FFWS SEA Southeast Asia’s premier competition and listed Spring and Fall seasons.[3]
