PTG Database Analysis

The League of Legends competition ran March 13–15 within Intel Extreme Masters Season IX’s March 12–15 World Championship. TSM defeated Team WE 3–0 in the final to win the LoL title and the USD 108,414 champion’s prize. Eight teams took part in the League of Legends field.[1][2]

Teams played a double-elimination, best-of-one group stage before a single-elimination playoff bracket; the final was best-of-five.[6]

The World Championship paired the League of Legends and StarCraft II competitions at Spodek Arena in Katowice, with the event announced by ESL and Intel. The parallel ESL One Katowice Counter-Strike tournament was a separately branded competition, so it is not included in this edition’s game list.[2][3]
