PTG Database Analysis
ESL One Rio Major 2020, an edition of Counter-Strike Major Championships, was announced by ESL FACEIT Group as the first Valve-sponsored Counter-Strike Major in Brazil. It was initially scheduled for May 11–24 with a USD 1,000,000 prize pool. ESL moved it to Nov 9–22 in March, kept the Champions Stage in Rio de Janeiro at Farmasi Arena (then Jeunesse Arena) for Nov 19–22, and combined the prize pools into USD 2,000,000. ESL and Valve later cancelled the Major because the pandemic made holding it impossible.[2][3][4]
The planned format was a 24-team Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Major, but no final entrant list was established before cancellation. Liquipedia lists Intel, MTN DEW GAME FUEL, DHL and GG.BET among the edition’s partners; ESL’s announcement also says the event would count toward the Intel Grand Slam. No champion or competed participant is recorded because the event did not take place.[1][2]
