Samsung is a South Korean multinational conglomerate headquartered in Samsung Town, Seoul. Through its Samsung Electronics division, the company has been a major force in esports as the founding sponsor of the World Cyber Games (WCG) in 2000, providing financial backing that helped establish the first global-scale esports competition.

Samsung’s esports involvement extended beyond WCG sponsorship. The company operated the Samsung Galaxy (formerly Samsung Khan) professional esports club, one of the most successful Korean organizations of its era. Its League of Legends teams won the World Championship as Samsung White in 2014 and Samsung Galaxy in 2017.
