Overview

The 2024 Mid-Season Invitational brought 12 teams from eight regional leagues to Chengdu. Riot scheduled an eight-team Play-In across two four-team double-elimination brackets from May 1–5; four teams advanced to the eight-team, double-elimination Bracket Stage at Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center. Riot’s official rules guarantee at least USD 250,000 for the prize pool, including a share of designated digital-goods revenue; the final total is not stated in the rules.[1][2]

Gen.G beat Bilibili Gaming 3–1 in the final. Esports Charts reported that the tournament’s peak exceeded 2.82 million viewers during BLG’s lower-bracket final against T1. Riot also named Li-Ning as its partner for an MSI apparel capsule and said it would share portions of sales from the event pass, bundle and Empyrean Nocturne skin with competing teams. More than 50 co-streamers were expected to join the invite-only program, and MSI-qualified teams were invited to co-stream every match. The edition connects to the existing PTG profiles for Chengdu, the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Center, and all 12 participating League of Legends teams.[3][1][6]
