PTG Database Analysis

Games-Services ran ESWC in 2008. The Counter-Strike competition took place at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose as part of NVIDIA’s NVISION event. ESWC’s archive identifies NVIDIA and San Jose as main partners; NVIDIA also hosted the surrounding NVISION program. Liquipedia lists Oxent as organizer, but contemporary evidence identifies Games-Services as the operator at the time. The 29-team Counter-Strike field played two group stages before the playoffs for a USD 79,000 prize pool. Meet Your Makers won the title over e-STRO Counter-Strike, with fnatic Counter-Strike third and mousesports Counter-Strike fourth. The group tables and Participants tab now link all 29 entrants. The ESWC archive’s figure of 650 champions from 40 countries covers the wider multi-game event.[1][2][3][4][7]
