ESL Pro League Season 4’s finals ran from Oct 26–30, 2016. ESL’s July announcement set the season-wide prize pool at USD 750,000 and named Ginásio do Ibirapuera for the in-person finals; the event’s finals-stage distribution was USD 600,000. The first two group-stage days were held behind closed doors at ESL Studios in São Paulo, followed by the final group day and playoffs at the arena.[2][3][4][5]
The new format was announced with 12 teams, but fnatic withdrew shortly before play began. HLTV’s event guide and ESL’s result report document the 11 teams that competed. Cloud9 beat SK Gaming 2–1 in the final to win the tournament.[3][4][5][6]
