Overview
Garena first described the Arena of Valor World Cup 2022 in July 2021 as a 16-team crossover event with over USD 8 million in planned prize money. Its December 2021 annual plan set an October 2022 window and raised the announced pool to USD 10 million.[1][2] In June 2022, Level Infinite announced that the Honor of Kings World Champion Cup would take place at year’s end with 16 international teams and a USD 10 million pool; Liquipedia records that this plan replaced the AWC event.[3][5] Garena’s September announcement said APL 2022 would replace AWC 2022.[4] AWC did not take place, leaving no host venue, final participants, champion or prize payout.
