PTG Database Analysis
DreamHack launched Masters in 2016 as a touring, large-arena esports championship. Its official launch announcement described two Counter-Strike: Global Offensive events that year; its 2017 release called the Malmö event the series’ third edition and documented a 16-team, $250,000 tournament. Locations and venues varied by edition.
ESL and DreamHack included the named DreamHack Masters competition in their 2021 ESL Pro Tour calendar. The next published calendar organized Counter-Strike competitions under ESL Pro Tour Masters tiers and emphasized IEM-branded flagship events. This page therefore preserves DreamHack Masters as a historical brand and does not treat it as synonymous with every later ESL Pro Tour Masters event.
