Overview
Joona Sotala has competed as Serral in StarCraft II’s Zerg race. He represented ENCE from 2016 until January 2023, when the organization announced his departure after nearly seven years together. BASILISK’s current StarCraft II page lists him among its players.[1][2]
Serral won the 2018 WCS Global Finals, becoming the first non-Korean player to win a StarCraft II global final. He later won IEM Katowice in 2022 and the StarCraft II title at Esports World Cup 2025, where he beat Classic 5–2 in a best-of-nine final. BASILISK describes the EWC victory as his third world championship.[3][4][5]
During his ENCE period, Serral also discussed the Serral Open in his hometown as one of the projects he had worked on with the organization. It is a documented example of community-facing activity alongside his competition record; any future use would need current rights and participation confirmed.[2]
